In order to be eligible for admission into our program, you must meet the following requirements:
For those interested in teaching secondary (5th-12th grade) subjects, like math or social studies, or all-grade (K-12) subjects, like PE or Spanish, you must have a degree in education or a secondary content area with a minor in education. You must also pass the relevant Praxis content exam prior to being admitted to our program.
For those interested in early childhood education (PreK-3rd grade) or elementary education (K-6th grade), you must have a degree in early childhood education or elementary education. You also must pass the relevant Praxis content exam, as well as the Teaching Reading Praxis exam (Teaching Reading: Elementary (5205)). The Praxis content exam for early childhood education is Early Childhood Assessment (5026; subtests 5027, 5028). The praxis content exam for elementary education is Elementary Education Assessment (5006; subtests 5007, 5008).
Prior to registering for the Praxis exams, please ensure that you have sent us a copy of your transcripts from all institutions from where you have taken any course for credit, not just the institution that granted your degree. If you have a Master’s degree, please ensure you send the Master’s transcript, as well as all transcripts from all undergraduate institutions.
Undergraduate GPA minimum WITH passing scores on content/reading exams must be at least 2.33.
